Oktoberfest in Tirana, German art and culture part of the International Cultural Weeks
Under the slogan “Culture Connects Us All,” Tirana becomes part of a week dedicated to German culture, art and traditions.
From the electronic rhythms of DJs and the Oktoberfest atmosphere, to exhibitions, contemporary art, gastronomy, urban culture and German traditions, German Cultural Week 2026 brings a rich and diverse programme for the public. Since the International Cultural Weeks began, the first week of October has been reserved for the “German October,” since on 3 October Germans celebrate German Unity Day.
From 2 to 6 October, Tirana will take on a German rhythm through music, art, flavours and activities that aim to bring German culture closer to the public, creating a shared space of communication and cultural exchange.
The week begins with DIHA-Oktoberfest, on 2 October, from 19:00 to 00:00. The event brings to Tirana the traditional Bavarian “Wiesn” atmosphere, with German beer, typical Bavarian food, live music and a dance floor in a festive setting decorated in the characteristic blue and white colours.
On 3 October, from 11:00 to 13:00, the Street Festival will bring a special German atmosphere to the Recreational Square of the New Bazaar.
Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the activities of German organizations, to be informed about study and scholarship opportunities in Germany, and to discover more about German-Albanian cooperation. Culinary specialties, fresh bread, local beer and live music from the Munich band Gaudiblosn will complete the festive atmosphere.
Also on 3 October, from 18:00 to 00:00, Europa Park will turn into a space of urban culture with the event “Berlin Meets Tirana.”
One of the main activities of German Cultural Week 2026 will interweave electronic music inspired by Berlin’s club scene with German aesthetics and Albanian hospitality.
The German Cultural Week programme continues on 6 October, at 19:00, with the opening of the multimedia exhibition “Beyond Destruction,” at Villa 31 x Art Eplora.
Created by documentary photographer Ilir Tsouko and writer Anja Troelenberg, the exhibition addresses the climate crisis through the personal stories of communities affected by environmental disasters. Adapted to the Albanian reality, the exhibition aims to spark dialogue and reflection on climate change, resilience and sustainable development.
