Osmani in New York at the “Women Political Leaders” event: Women’s representation in decision-making strengthens security and democracy

Former Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani is continuing her activities in the United States of America, where she has been invited by the international organization “Women Political Leaders” to take part in a high-level discussion.

In her remarks, Osmani spoke about the impact of fair representation of women in peace and security processes, stressing that this is not merely a matter of participation, but an essential component of building safer, more inclusive and more resilient societies.

She also addressed the impact technological developments are having on global security, noting that at a time when peace, security and democracy face new challenges — including in the digital space — the voice and role of women in decision-making becomes even more essential.

“Women’s representation in decision-making processes strengthens security and democracy,” Osmani emphasized, adding that investing in gender equality at decision-making tables is an investment in lasting peace.

Osmani’s visit and activities in New York come at a busy diplomatic moment, with world leaders discussing global security and international cooperation challenges.
