Over 60 Scholars in Tirana for the International Mathematics Conference

TIRANA, September 18/ATSH/ A two-day international conference dedicated to contemporary developments in mathematics opened today at the Academy of Sciences of Albania, organized by the National Institute of Mathematics, part of the Academy, in cooperation with the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Tirana and the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina.”

The conference “Western Balkan Conference on Mathematics and Applications (WBCMA 2026)” was held with the aim of giving important space to representatives of the academic community and researchers for the exchange of ideas, the presentation of new research results and the strengthening of inter-institutional cooperation in the field of mathematics.

The head of the Natural and Technical Sciences section, Neki Frashëri, in his welcoming speech on behalf of the Academy’s presidency, noted the uniqueness of this scientific activity and further underlined the importance of cooperation between the universities of Tirana and Prishtina.

He also praised the presence of foreign experts at this event, singling out the participation of one of the best-known mathematicians of mathematical-complex analysis and harmonic function theory in the region, academician David Kalaj from Montenegro.

At the end of his speech, Frashëri wished the conference’s work success and promised the continuation of scientific meetings and cooperation in the future.

The Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Tirana, Prof. Dr. Eglantina Kalluci, thanked the participants and noted the importance of the conference for strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between the participating institutions; encouraging the exchange of knowledge and creating stronger links within the region and with the international scientific community.
