PDK lawmaker: We were betrayed by Vetëvendosje

Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) lawmaker Besa Kabashi-Ramaj has said that the situation created around the constitution of the Assembly should not be seen as damage caused only to the PDK, but as an issue that, in her view, is harming the Republic of Kosovo.

Speaking on the “Five” show on TV Dukagjini, Kabashi-Ramaj said the PDK is following all institutional procedures to oppose what it considers an unconstitutional act in the Assembly’s constitution process.

“We are following all procedures so that our country does not sink deeper into an unconstitutional act, as Albin Kurti wanted to take it,” she said.

Kabashi-Ramaj criticized Kurti and Vetëvendosje, claiming the PDK was betrayed by them.

“It is unfortunate that the PDK was betrayed by Albin Kurti and Vetëvendosje, that Kosovo is led by an untrustworthy man,” she said.

However, the PDK lawmaker stressed that in this situation the damage, in her view, is not only political or partisan.

“It is not the PDK that was damaged by the failure to vote for deputy speakers, but the Republic of Kosovo. What is happening to the Republic of Kosovo is unprecedented,” Kabashi-Ramaj said.

She said the PDK will continue to take action to restore what she called constitutionality in the country.

“The PDK has continuously undertaken all actions to restore constitutionality in the country,” the lawmaker said.

Kabashi-Ramaj insisted that the Constitution cannot depend on the political interpretations of parties, describing it as the highest legal act that must be respected by all.

“The Constitution of Kosovo does not depend on the political interpretation of any political party. It is above all of us and we all serve it,” she said.

According to Kabashi-Ramaj, the PDK will continue to pursue all institutional avenues to oppose actions it considers contrary to the Constitution, while warning that the Assembly constitution process could also end up before the Constitutional Court. /TV Dukagjini
