‘Prishtina 2026’ Marathon: Police announce road closures, list alternative routes

Kosovo Police announce that, due to the organization of the international “Prishtina 2026” marathon, on Sunday, September 20, 2026, traffic will be blocked on several roads in Prishtina and the Fushë Kosovë region, including part of the highway.

Police stress that they have made all necessary police preparations to ensure safety for all participants, and have taken the measures needed to determine openings, restrictions, and full or partial blockages of certain road segments, in order to regulate road traffic and direct the flow of vehicles so that normal traffic fluidity is maintained.

Kosovo Police will interrupt the circulation of vehicles on the Prishtina – Fushë-Kosovë road toward Peja and vice versa, up to the interchange (the junction on the ‘Ibrahim Rugova’ highway).

The plan will begin to be implemented on Sunday (20.09.2026), starting at 09:00 until the end of the marathon.

To cope as easily as possible with the circumstances that will arise in road traffic, Police ask for the help and understanding of all citizens and urge them to follow its instructions.

1. Drivers traveling from Peja to Prishtina → use the road via: Sllatinë – Magurë village – Lipjan → then connect to the Ferizaj – Prishtina national road.

2. Drivers traveling from Peja and Fushë-Kosova → use the road via: Sllatinë – Bardh i Vogël – Kuzmin village – Fushë-Kosovë.

3. Drivers traveling from Prishtina or Veternik toward Peja/Airport → the route: Prishtina – Lipjan – Rufc i Ri – Poturoc – Magurë – Airport.

4. Drivers traveling from Mitrovica toward Peja or the Airport → use the highway from Mazgit toward Skopje, exit at Lipjan, then: Rufc i Ri – Poturoc – Magurë – Airport.

5. Drivers traveling from Mitrovica toward Ferizaj → will have free movement on the national road, without interruptions.

6. Public transport (buses) on the Prishtina – Fushë-Kosovë – Airport route and toward Peja → should not circulate on this road during the race, but use the alternative routes mentioned above.
