Prishtina’s 2027 budget approved, worth over €161 million
The Municipal Assembly of Prishtina has approved the budget for 2027, worth over €161 million, as katror.info reports, citing a KOHA announcement.
One of the largest projects, worth over €7 million, foresees the extension of “George Bush” Square to the Post Office. Mayor Përparim Rama said that of the total amount, €58 million is for capital investments, while €22 million comes from the Law on the Capital. According to him, the funds will go to kindergartens, schools, sports, healthcare and culture, as well as preparations for Prishtina 2030. “There can be debate about the budget, but there must be a decision. We must not remain hostage to political differences,” Rama declared.
Assembly members of the Vetëvendosje Movement came out against the budget; Gëzim Sveçla said the budget “is not for the citizen, but a little for LDK and a little for PDK,” warning that Vetëvendosje would not vote for such a budget. LDK and PDK came out in support of the budget: LDK’s Egzon Pacolli singled out the projects for the “Ibrahim Rugova” and “Adem Jashari” memorials, while PDK’s Plator Gërdovci praised the orientation of funds toward public transport. The budget was approved with 31 votes in favor and 12 against.
