“Prosecutors are using kamikaze journalists,” Rama says, accusing SPAK of leaking investigative “secrets”
Prime Minister Edi Rama has reacted after a house arrest measure was imposed on the former director of the State Intelligence Service (SHISH), stressing that he will not interfere with the content of the investigation file or with the judiciary’s decision-making.
Prime Minister Edi Rama:
“Every measure restricting liberty by the prosecution authority, against anyone who does not hold parliamentary immunity, is challenged only in court — not by opinion, not even at the prime minister’s rostrum.
Respect for the independence of justice does not mean silence even when a principled concern arises during the activity of its organs.
In this case, beyond and above the individual criminal matter, there is another principled, state matter that cannot be bypassed as if nothing happened.
During the imposition of the measure and the judicial administration of the file, an institution of particular sensitivity was exposed to the potential of great harm, which could and should have been fully prevented. The data of the investigation file were flooding through social channels before the court ordered the restriction of their publication. No one can claim that the investigative secret is kept by the media. The problem does not begin with the informal spokespeople of the courtyard of justice on screens. They are used by prosecutors and judges to declare people guilty before the trial begins, just like in a dictatorship, where once the propaganda tools finish their work, the trial remains a formality. This problem, which begins with the legalized illegality inside the courtyard of justice, where the investigative secret is squandered to lynch people, cannot be bypassed,” Rama said.
