Protesters block Prishtina airport exits, von der Leyen’s convoy forced to pass through Harilaq
The road exits from Prishtina International Airport “Adem Jashari” were blocked today by protesters, forcing the convoy of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to follow an alternative itinerary through Harilaq, as infofluks.com reports.
According to reports from the ground, the convoy was forced to pass through fields and unpaved roads, as the usual exit roads from the airport were impassable due to the blockade. Citizens gathered at several points near the airport are opposing the verdict of the Special Court against the former KLA leaders, and the blockades directly affected the movement of the escort of the senior European official.
The blockade was also reported by Klan Kosova, which announced that the citizens blocked the road to von der Leyen and that the convoy was penetrating with difficulty toward Prishtina.
The visit of von der Leyen to Kosovo takes place in the framework of her tour in the Balkans and includes meetings with the leaders of the state, in the Presidency and in the Government, as well as a joint press conference. It comes on the same day as the big announced march “Not in my name,” which is held at 16:00 at “Skanderbeg” Square in Prishtina, against the Hague verdict.
