Rama: investigating Vlora Hyseni is the judiciary’s job; protecting SHISH is the state’s responsibility

Prime Minister Edi Rama said the investigation and trial of Vlora Hyseni belong exclusively to the judiciary, while protecting the State Intelligence Service (SHISH) from any possible fallout is the responsibility of the state.

In a message from Rinas, Rama asked that the matter be taken up by the National Security Council, convened by the President.

“Investigating and trying Vlora Hyseni is the exclusive duty of the judiciary, this is beyond discussion. Protecting SHISH from any possible collateral damage is the duty of the entire state,” Rama said.

The prime minister stressed that the separation of powers must not mean a separation from state responsibility, describing the Security Council as the forum for discussing the guarantees that must protect institutions.

“The time has come to treat this jointly and seriously. The Security Council, convened at once by the President, is the right place to reflect and discuss the guarantees that must protect our institutions, when their leaders or employees slip off the rails and become the subject of a criminal investigation,” Rama said.
