Rama: No one can accuse me of acting against Albania — I am here to make history, not wealth
Prime Minister Edi Rama said that during his years in politics he may have made mistakes, but according to him, no one can accuse him of acting against Albania’s interests.
In a video message from the “Nënë Tereza” airport, Rama said various accusations may have been made against him but, in his words, there is no evidence tied to any signature of his, whether during his time as mayor of Tirana or as prime minister.
“When an official has opened an account with justice, it is an individual matter between them and the justice organs,” Rama said.
The prime minister said the fact that justice is investigating people in power does not prove, in his view, that corruption is growing, but that it is being struck.
“These episodes prove quite the opposite — they prove that corruption is being struck,” he said.
Rama said one of his political pledges has been the fight against impunity, regardless of the power of the persons facing justice.
“I promised the rebirth of a ruined Albania, I pledged the end of impunity regardless of power and this is the historic change that is happening. I am here to make history, not to make wealth,” Rama concluded.
