Revealed: the teams that “suffered” most from Manchester City’s unfair competition
The scandal that has engulfed Manchester City has not left the other teams in England indifferent, but some of them have reason to be outraged even more, since the unfair competition of the Abu Dhabi-owned club has cost them not only money, but also sporting results.
Spurs are the big losers of Manchester City’s 115 financial violations. The London club has lost participation in the Champions League four times over these years by finishing fifth.
Tottenham finished the season in fifth place in 2010-11, 2012-13 and 2014-15. The most bitter season was 2011-12, when Spurs finished the championship among the top four places, but in the end did not qualify as Chelsea, in sixth place, took their spot as Champions League winners.
Another team damaged by what Manchester City has done is United. The “Red Devils” could have had 22 league titles and not the 20 they currently have, had their rivals entered the competition without breaking the rules. During the years when City committed the violations, United finished second twice.
Liverpool has been damaged even more, as in the 2013-14 season it lost the title to City by just two points. Financially the two teams did not have much difference, as the champions benefited by only 1.2 million pounds over their closest followers, but the wait for the league title is priceless, A.V. reports.
