Deliu urges Gërvalla to advance the Specialist Chambers bill: “Don’t stall it, bring the law”

Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) MP Blerta Deliu has addressed Justice Minister Donika Gërvalla over the bill amending and supplementing the Law on Kosovo’s Specialist Chambers.

Deliu, in a Facebook post, said that 99 Kosovo Assembly MPs from all political parties have united with their votes in support of the KLA’s war and its four former leaders facing trial in The Hague.

She urged Gërvalla not to delay the bill’s procedure in the Government so that it can then be sent to the Assembly for review and voting.

“Donika, you have 99 MPs of the Kosovo Assembly, from all political parties, who with their free and unanimous vote have united in defense of the KLA’s war and in support of its four former leaders in The Hague, with the legal, political, institutional and financial means the state has at its disposal,” Deliu wrote.

She stressed that the Assembly and the MPs have expressed their political will through voting, and called on the justice minister to process the bill in the Government.

“The Assembly and the MPs did their part. They demonstrated political will with their vote. Now do your part as Minister of Justice: process the bill in the Government so it comes immediately to the Assembly for a vote,” she said.

Deliu used the phrase “A declaration is a pledge. A law is action,” calling for concrete institutional steps.

“And our wartime and peacetime leaders need concrete actions,” the MP wrote.

She warned that if the country goes to elections without the Assembly being given the chance to vote on the bill, political responsibility for not processing it must, in her view, be clear.

“Don’t stop this process. Don’t block the initiative. Don’t deny the Assembly the chance to decide by vote on this bill,” Deliu said.

In the end, she asked Gërvalla to process the bill, saying its passage would also enable the advancement of other political processes.

“Bring the law, Donika!” Deliu concluded.
