Women’s Euro U-17: Albania held to a goalless draw by Kosovo in the opener

Albania’s women’s U-17s drew goalless with Kosovo U-17 in the opening match of the first round of qualifying for the 2027 European Championship for this age group. At the “Niko Dovana” stadium there was no shortage of chances, but neither team managed to find the net.

Coach Cyme Lulaj started the match with this lineup: Reshiti (GK), T. Hasanaj, Jahelezi, Gola, E. Hasanaj, Kola, Wintz, Maksuti, Çifliku, Ahmetaj and Hoxha. In the second half, Çelaj, Avdijaj, Kronaj, Kuka and Hysenaj were also brought on.

The red-and-blacks came close through Çifliku and Wintz on several occasions but failed to convert the chances they created.

In the end, one point apiece for Albania and Kosovo, who sit second and third respectively in Group B1. The group’s other match, between Ireland U-17 and Azerbaijan U-17, ended in a heavy 16-0 defeat.

The red-and-blacks play their next match on October 1 against Ireland, again at the “Niko Dovana” stadium, at 3:00 p.m.
