Russian attacks on Kyiv toll rises: 5 killed, including a 14-year-old, and 39 wounded

Kyiv, 25 September 2026 – The toll of Russia’s drone attacks on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv has risen sharply, with at least 5 killed, including a 14-year-old boy, and 39 others wounded by Friday afternoon, according to the updated tally of the Ukrainian authorities.

According to Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko, 15 people, including two children, were hospitalized as a result of the strikes that hit several districts of the capital overnight and during the day.

Overnight, a Russian drone hit a 16-storey residential building in the central Pecherskyi district, between the 10th and 11th floors, killing a 14-year-old and wounding seven people. The victim was an Israeli citizen, while his mother was also wounded, according to Israel’s Foreign Ministry in Ukraine.

In the morning, around 9:30, after a new air alarm, a drone hit a 5-storey non-residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district. Around 14:30, the capital went under air alert for the seventh time since morning. During the day, a drone also hit an office building in the Solomianskyi district, where preliminary reports say 4 people were killed and 7 others wounded, including a child, in the building’s parking lot. A medical institution in the same district was damaged, while 3 people, including a child, were hospitalized nearby.

A McDonald’s depot in Brovary, in the Kyiv region, was also damaged by the strikes. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the continued Russian escalation, declaring: “The Russians are constantly expanding their escalation operation: American and other businesses, data centers, internet providers — for Russia, ordinary life itself is simply a target.”
