Russian attacks on Kyiv toll rises to 7 dead and 46 wounded
Seven civilians, including a teenager, were killed and 46 others wounded in a wave of Russian drone attacks that struck Kyiv on Friday (September 25), city mayor Vitali Klitschko announced. The new toll deepens the day’s tragedy in the Ukrainian capital, where emergency crews worked for hours under the constant threat of air attacks.
Earlier in the day, a Russian drone hit a 16-story residential block in the central Pechersk district, killing a 14-year-old boy and wounding seven others, according to local officials. The blast caused major damage to the building and immediately mobilized firefighters and rescue teams.
In another attack the same day, the bodies of four people were found in the parking lot near an office building struck by a drone, while seven others were injured. This episode brought the total toll in the capital to seven dead and 46 wounded.
President Volodymyr Zelensky called the attack absolutely barbaric and repugnant, saying at least eight regions of Ukraine had been hit since Friday morning. According to him, one person was killed in Odesa during a double-tap attack on a postal facility, a medical clinic was hit in Zaporizhzhia while people were inside, and there are wounded in the Sumy and Mykolaiv regions as well.
The UN monitoring mission in Ukraine announced Friday that it has recorded at least 200 civilian deaths in September alone, from attacks that damaged homes, hospitals, shops and workplaces. The figure underscores the heavy cost civilians are paying for the war, now approaching its fourth year.
Russia, for its part, denies deliberately targeting civilians, despite extensive evidence gathered by international investigators of strikes on civilian infrastructure across Ukraine.
