Russian drone strikes hit Kyiv even during Sunday: one injured, says Klitschko; one killed in Kramatorsk
Russian drone strikes on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv continued even during Sunday, injuring one person, Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko announced. According to local authorities, fragments of downed drones fell in several districts of the city.
Klitschko said that Ukrainian air defences faced new waves of drones even after the morning, while air alarms were heard in the capital throughout the day. The injured person received medical assistance, the mayor emphasised, without giving further details about his condition.
City officials reported that drone debris fell in various districts of Kyiv, causing material damage. Residents were repeatedly warned to stay in shelters and not ignore air alarms, as the attacks continued.
Meanwhile, in the east of the country, in the city of Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region, local officials announced that one person lost their life during one of several rounds of shelling. Kramatorsk remains one of the hottest points of the eastern front, where fighting and shelling are daily.
Sunday’s developments come after a heavy night of attacks in the Kyiv region, which Ukrainian authorities had reported earlier. According to Reuters, the uninterrupted strikes during the day underscore the intensification of the Russian air campaign against Ukrainian urban areas.
