Russian strikes kill 14 and wound 57 in Ukraine in the past 24 hours; Odesa hit with “massive attack”

At least 14 people were killed and 57 others wounded by Russian strikes across Ukraine in the past 24 hours, between September 26 and 27, with the Odesa region under a “massive attack”, as The Kyiv Independent reports. In Odesa a residential building, a medical facility, a hotel, a shop and a grain warehouse were damaged.

According to regional governor Oleh Kiper, one person lost their life and two others were wounded in this Black Sea port city. The Ukrainian Air Force announced that during the night of September 27 Russia launched 170 attack drones, including Shahed drones — 76 of them jet-powered — as well as Gerbera and Parodiya decoy drones. Ukrainian air defenses shot down or neutralized 147 of them, while strikes were recorded at 18 locations and drone debris fell in 8 others.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said on September 27 that residential buildings, energy infrastructure and civilian facilities were attacked in the Odesa, Kharkiv, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Poltava, Zhytomyr and Kyiv regions. According to him, in the past week alone Russia used over 2,200 attack drones, about 1,650 aerial bombs and 38 missiles of various types, many of them ballistic.

The heaviest toll was recorded in Zaporizhzhia, where four people were killed and five wounded after 989 strikes in 59 settlements in 24 hours, and in the Donetsk region, with three killed and five wounded, according to governor Vadym Filashkin. In the Sumy region, a Russian glide bomb hit a residential area.
