Samsung raises Galaxy S26 phone prices: expensive chip memory pushes buyers’ bills higher
As Reuters reports, citing the South Korean Yonhap agency, Samsung Electronics has raised the prices of its flagship Galaxy S26 phones on its home market, as rising chip memory costs squeeze smartphone makers’ margins.
The base model of the series now costs 1,403,600 won (around $1,030), an increase of 149,600 won. A similar increase of 149,600 won has been applied to the other models in the series, except for the Galaxy S26 Ultra version with 1TB of memory, whose price has risen by 270,000 won, reaching 2,821,500 won.
The Galaxy S26 series, launched in March, had already arrived with higher prices for some models in the United States and South Korea — a test of the resilience of consumer demand, as galloping memory prices push production costs higher.
In today’s trading, one U.S. dollar is worth around 1,362.8 won, according to Reuters calculations.
