Saudi Coalition Airstrikes Hit Yemen’s Hajjah Province: One Killed, One Wounded
Saudi-led coalition airstrikes struck the city of Abs in the Hajjah province of northwestern Yemen. According to the Houthi-run Al Masirah television, cited by Al Jazeera, two airstrikes hit the area: one person was killed, another was wounded, four cars were destroyed and one house was damaged.
The strikes come at a time of fierce escalation between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthis. Riyadh has carried out hundreds of airstrikes against Houthi positions in recent days, while the Yemeni group has struck Saudi cities with ballistic missiles and drones, including the claimed attack near the Mecca area.
Hajjah province borders Saudi Arabia and has been the scene of fierce fighting throughout the conflict; the city of Abs lies in the northwest of the country, not far from the front line.
So far there has been no official comment from the Saudi coalition on the strikes in Abs. The casualty toll may change as more details emerge.
