The patient is a 51-year-old man from the village of Vreshtas in Maliq. According to the information available, the 51-year-old said he had been working in a field when he was bitten by an insect.
After the case was confirmed, specialists from Tirana arrived in the area and carried out inspections and field observations to assess the situation and identify the presence of mosquitoes that could carry the virus.
This is the second confirmed case this year in the country. The first case was confirmed in August, in a 72-year-old man from Korça.
Specialists continue to monitor the Vreshtas area, while health structures are following the situation to prevent further cases.
