Sentencing of the four KLA leaders; Limaj: Strong leadership needed to review the wrong steps, what was left undone and what must be done
Former Kosovo Assembly MP Fatmir Limaj took part in the Prishtina protest organized by the Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans Organization to oppose the Special Court’s decision sentencing the four former KLA leaders. In a statement to the media, Limaj said the decision was unjust, unacceptable and unfounded.
“Now I believe there is a general consensus that it was an unjust, unacceptable and unfounded decision. We usually raise our voice loudly, that is why there are also court instances. The law itself allows it and does not accept the first instance in its entirety. What we have in fact seen, the course of the process — the judges have played the role of the prosecutor and the verdict goes beyond the prosecutor’s request. It is a difficult moment, but it must not stop us nor throw us into panic. Now in these situations, people with a clear head emerge, with clarity, without giving up and fighting hard and finding ways to turn this injustice into justice. Now strong leadership is needed to look at the wrong steps, what was left undone and what must be done,” he said.
Limaj further said that special attention must be paid to the question marks surrounding the persons judging and their integrity.
