Serious accident in Korçë: police officer runs over 60-year-old, killing him; the officer himself seriously injured

A serious road accident was recorded this morning on the Korçë-Pogradec road, near the village of Bulgarec, where one person lost his life.

According to preliminary police information, the incident occurred at around 07:10, when a vehicle driven by citizen D. M., about 30 years old, an off-duty police officer, collided with a bicycle ridden by citizen R. A., about 60 years old.

As a result of the collision, the 60-year-old died at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital, where he is receiving medical assistance and is in a serious health condition.

The investigative group and the Police Oversight Agency (AMP) arrived at the scene and, under the direction of the Prosecution, have launched investigations to determine the circumstances and causes of the accident.

Investigations continue to fully clarify the dynamics of the collision.
