‘She had outstanding references from partners’: Rama says Vlora Hyseni has entered ‘a great moral debt’ with the country
Prime Minister Edi Rama responded to opposition demands for explanations over the appointment of Vlora Hyseni at the helm of the State Intelligence Service (SHISH).
Rama said in a message from “Nënë Tereza” airport that Hyseni’s appointment to lead the intelligence service had also been made on the basis of the evaluations and references she had received, as he put it, from international partners.
“The investigation and trial of Vlora Hyseni are the exclusive duty of the judiciary, while the protection of SHISH is the duty of the state,” Rama said, adding that the National Security Council is the institution where cases should be discussed when leaders or members of security institutions become subjects of investigation.
Rama said he had valued Hyseni’s work and that she had initially worked beside him as an adviser for security. According to the prime minister, she was then appointed to lead SHISH based on references he described as “outstanding” from international partners.
“Vlora Hyseni has entered into a great moral debt with this country,” Rama said.
