“She has opened a difficult account with justice,” Rama on the measure against the former SHISH director: every suspicion must be investigated to the end
Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted after the house arrest measure was imposed on the former director of the State Intelligence Service (SHISH), stressing he will not interfere in the contents of the investigation file or the justice system’s decision-making.
In a statement to the media after returning from the United States, where he attended the UN General Assembly and met with the Albanian community, Rama said he had valued Vlora Hyseni’s work during her time as an advisor. “I valued Vlora Hyseni’s work. She started working alongside me as an advisor. After a not-short period in that role, and based on excellent references from partner services, she was appointed head of SHISH,” Rama said.
The prime minister also addressed recent developments regarding the investigation of the former SHISH head, describing the house arrest as a development requiring direct and immediate address. “I have just returned from New York, where, as you know, I represented Albania at the UN. I decided to come straight from the ‘Nënë Tereza’ airport. Recent developments, after the house arrest measure for the former SHISH head, require immediate and direct address,” he said.
Rama said he has no right to interfere in the contents of the file and in the reasons that led the court to its decision. “It was undoubtedly an extreme measure, considering the exposure of a very key institution. I do not have the right to interfere in the contents of the file and what led the court to do it. I have not done it before and I will not do it. Every suspicion must be investigated to the end,” the prime minister declared.
