Tasholli: The October 1 protest will not be a march — a rally in “Skënderbeu” Square, an invitation also for political leaders
Ismail Tasholli, representative of the “Liria ka Emër” platform, has revealed new details about the October 1 protest in defense of the former KLA leaders, clarifying that it will not take place in the form of a march, as had been announced earlier, but as a rally in “Skënderbeu” Square in Pristina.
In an interview for Ekonomia Online, republished also by Radio Llapi and Klan Kosova, Tasholli said the invitation to the protest was sent to all citizens of Kosovo, including the heads of political parties.
“We are in contact with everyone. There are contacts, we have talked to them, the invitation has been made to everyone, because the heads of the parties are also citizens of Kosovo,” Tasholli said.
He announced that the gathering points with buses for each municipality will be published publicly and that in each municipality the departure point toward Pristina will be known.
The protest, according to him, is expected to last one to one and a half hours. There will be 5–6 speakers, among them children of martyrs, participants of the protests of October 1, 1997, students and veterans’ organizations, while at the end the rally will close with a musical piece with patriotic songs.
Tasholli called on citizens to come with their families, guaranteeing that the protest will be entirely peaceful.
The October 1 protest is held as a reaction to the verdict of the Hague Specialist Chambers against the former KLA leaders, Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi. The rally is expected to start at 16:00, while today at 14:00 the “Liria ka Emër” platform holds a media conference.
