The SHISH case, the Conference of Presidents meets on the debate motion requested by the DP
The Conference of Presidents meets today at 09:00 to consider the official request of the Democratic Party’s Parliamentary Group for a debate motion on the dismissal and the investigations surrounding the former director of the State Intelligence Service (SHISH), Vlora Hyseni.
The opposition’s request comes after the publication of reports that Hyseni, while in office, allegedly supplied classified information to citizen Ergys Agasi, who is under investigation by the Special Prosecution (SPAK) for several serious criminal offences.
In the document filed with the Assembly, the Democratic Party demands full accountability and a parliamentary inquiry on these key points:
The Prime Minister’s Political Responsibility: Examination of the procedures and criteria followed by the Prime Minister and state structures for the selection, appointment, oversight and removal of the head of SHISH.
Undermining of National Security: Urgent verification of whether and to what extent state classified information has been compromised, as well as the measures taken to protect the secret service’s personnel.
Control Mechanisms: Assessment of the failure of the legal structures of oversight and parliamentary control over the national security institutions.
The opposition demands that the Conference of Presidents immediately set the date for holding the motion in plenary session, ensuring that the parliamentary debate will respect the rules on protecting state secrecy and the independence of the justice bodies.
