U.S. – Trump: Zelensky should stop attacks on Russian refineries

WASHINGTON, September 13 / ATSH – ANSA/ – U.S. President Donald Trump has called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to stop attacks on Russian refineries and fuel infrastructure.

Speaking to reporters at his golf club in Doonbeg, Ireland, Trump said Zelensky “must stop hitting diesel fuel in Russia,” arguing that the strikes are contributing to the global shortage of refined oil.

“There are many other targets. Don’t hit diesel fuel. This is hurting the world,” Trump said.

Ukraine has intensified long-range drone strikes on Russian refineries and energy facilities, causing production cuts and shortages inside Russia. Kyiv considers these facilities legitimate military targets, as they supply fuel to the Russian military and generate revenue for Moscow.

According to Trump, the strikes on Russian infrastructure are also affecting the international fuel market and adding pressure on prices.

However, the global market is currently also under pressure due to major supply disruptions in the Middle East. / os/
