Ukrainian drone strike on Krasnodar kills three, injures two; fires at two industrial sites
Three people were killed and two others injured in a Ukrainian army drone strike on Russia’s southern Krasnodar region, local Russian authorities announced Saturday, on a night when airstrikes between the two countries intensified sharply.
Regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev wrote on Telegram that the strike caused fires at two industrial facilities, without giving further details. Russian media later reported that a local oil refinery was the target.
The Ukrainian strike came on the same night Russian forces hit several regions of Ukraine. According to Ukrainian authorities, the Russian strikes killed four people: two women in Zaporizhzhia who were left under the rubble of a destroyed house, as well as two people in the city of Sumy.
Ukraine’s air defenses announced that during the night they shot down 134 of 173 drones launched by Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote Saturday morning that Russia is escalating every day and called on international partners for a stronger response.
Meanwhile, the Russian Defense Ministry claimed Saturday that its strike on Kyiv had damaged a data center which, it said, supported both mobile internet and Starlink satellite systems — a claim that has not been independently verified, as the Associated Press reports.
