Unbelievable smuggling attempt in Mallorca: 109 cocaine packages found inside passenger’s body
Spanish police arrested a man in whose body 109 packages of cocaine were found, with a total gross weight of around 1,353 grams, during a check at Palma de Mallorca airport, local media reported today.
The passenger, whom police say is of Nigerian origin, arrived on a flight from Charleroi, Belgium, on the night of September 6. Officers arrested him on suspicion of drug trafficking.
The National Police, the Customs Surveillance Service of the Tax Administration and the Civil Guard took action after receiving information about a passenger suspected of hiding drugs in his body in order to bring them into Mallorca.
Police officers found and identified the passenger at Palma airport and then took him to the passenger customs area.
According to authorities, he consented to an X-ray scan in line with legal procedures for the protection of rights.
The video showed multiple foreign bodies inside his torso, and their shape and arrangement corresponded to packages used for internal drug smuggling, according to a police statement.
With a police escort and under medical supervision, he was transferred to Son Espases University Hospital. There, he naturally expelled 109 packages of white substance with a solid structure, which was confirmed to be cocaine. The court ordered his provisional detention.
