Unique Cooper Flagg NBA debut patch card sells for more than $8 million

A one-of-one Topps Chrome Update card featuring the autograph and debut patch of Cooper Flagg sold for more than $8 million after 83 bids in a Fanatics Collect auction that ended early Friday. The sale broke the record for any Flagg card by more than $7 million and ranked as the third most expensive NBA card sale in history.

As Bleacher Report reports, the record price for an NBA card remains $12,932,000 for a 2007–08 Upper Deck Exquisite Dual Logoman signed by Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, while the second most expensive card is a 2006–07 Upper Deck Exquisite dual Logoman with Jordan and LeBron that sold for over $10 million. According to reports, the Flagg card sale ranks it among the five most expensive trading card sales, surpassing the famous $7.25 million sale of the 1909 Honus Wagner T206 card.

Flagg signed the card during Fanatics Fest in July, and it then went into a pack that was opened during a live stream; according to reports, the card was found by fan Jason Williams of South Carolina. Williams, who had bought the spot in the stream for $515 from the Baseball Cards of Rhode Island store, said he was very excited when he saw the card and later consigned it for sale to Fanatics in August.

Cooper Flagg arrived in the NBA after a brilliant season with Duke (2024–25), where he was named consensus player of the year, and was selected first in the 2025 draft by the Dallas Mavericks. In his rookie campaign, he averaged 21.0 points on 46.8 percent shooting from the field, 6.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game. His debut came on October 22, 2025 against the San Antonio Spurs, when he finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds; during the season he also had big performances, including a 51-point game against the Orlando Magic on April 3 and a near triple-double with around 45 points, 9 assists and 8 rebounds in the win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
