Veseli: Vučić’s resignation could reflect negatively on the security of the region and Kosovo
Former Kosovo Security Force colonel Afrim Veseli has described the political situation in the region as delicate following Aleksandar Vučić’s resignation as president of Serbia, warning that developments there could reflect negatively on the security of the region and in particular on Kosovo.
Speaking on the ‘Kosova Today’ programme, as Klan Kosova reports, Veseli said Vučić’s resignation, regardless of how it has been presented in public, carries messages that should not be underestimated.
‘I consider it a delicate situation. Vučić’s resignation in itself presents a message, not a good message for citizens, even though he has orchestrated everything in that form of a democratic system, supposedly that he is a person who supports democratic systems, but behind it much is hidden’, Veseli said.
According to him, political developments in Serbia could reflect beyond its borders, particularly in terms of security.
‘This could also reflect negatively on security in the region and in particular in Kosovo’, the former KSF colonel declared.
Vučić announced his resignation on Sunday, 27 September, concluding his second five-year term and paving the way for early presidential elections in Serbia, as Reuters and AP reported.
