Vučić pardons 12 from the “Novi Sad group” and 11 from the “other side”: abolitions and pardons for 49 people before leaving the presidency
On Sunday evening, in the speech in which he resigned from the presidency of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić announced decisions on abolition and pardons for 49 people, 23 of whom are linked to the events of the last year and a half, as Danas reports.
Twelve of them are from the so-called “Novi Sad group” — students and activists accused of attempting to overthrow the constitutional order, citing Vučić’s speech on Sunday evening. Among them are Mila Pajić, a student of the Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad who has been abroad since 2025, as well as Marija Vasić, Davor Stefanović, Lado Jovović, Srđan Đurić, Mladen Cvijetić from the Free Citizens’ Movement, Lazar Dinić, Doroteja Antić, Anja Pitulić, Branislav Đorđević, Jovan Dražić and Dejan Bagarić from the STAV organization. Some of them spent months in detention or house arrest, while some are being tried in absentia.
Eleven people “from the other side” were also pardoned, those who took part in incidents against participants of the protesters’ blockades, according to Nova.rs.
Vučić said he made the decision despite differing opinions of the security services and that he knows it will cause dissatisfaction among his supporters, but assessed that the pardons could help a calmer life and mutual understanding, Nova.rs reported.
