“Wanted”: Broadway’s New Musical Begins Previews October 15 — Solea Pfeiffer, Ledisi and Luke James in the Cast

The new musical “Wanted” arrives on Broadway this fall. The new production begins previews on Thursday, October 15, while the official opening night is set for Sunday, November 8, at the James Earl Jones Theatre.

“Wanted” is the epic story of Mary and Martha: sisters, outlaws, legends — inspired by the true story of the Clarke family, passed down from generation to generation. The book and lyrics were written by Angelica Chéri, selected as a “Star to Watch” by Variety and a descendant of the Clarke sisters, while the music was composed by Ross Baum, winner of the Richard Rodgers Award.

In the leading roles are Solea Pfeiffer as Mary Clarke and Liisi LaFontaine as Martha Clarke. Joining the cast is R&B music legend Ledisi — a Grammy winner and 16-time nominee — as Tallulah Clarke, singer and actor Luke James (a Grammy nominee) as Elijah, West End star Bradley Jaden as Jesse, as well as Aurelia Williams as Sissy and Awa Sal Secka as Flo. The living chorus of ancestors, “Kinfolk,” who lead the Clarke sisters on their epic journey, is made up of Melody A. Betts, Aaron Arnell Harrington, Jennie Harney-Fleming, Rayshun LaMarr, Hailey Thomas and Harris Matthew Turner.

Direction is by Stevie Walker-Webb, a Tony nominee and Obie Award winner, with choreography by Chelsey Arce. The creative team is joined by John Clancy (orchestrations), Beowulf Boritt (scenic design), Adam Honoré (lighting), Emilio Sosa (costumes), Gareth Owen (sound) and Stefania Bulbarella (video and projections).
