Xhemajli: The UDB had infiltrators, it knew even the most secret details of our activity
Former activist Bajrush Xhemajli has said that the UDB had people infiltrated into the networks of Albanian activists and that they had detailed information about their activities.
As part of the “Dosjet” series, part of the “Debat Plus” show, Xhemajli said the Yugoslav service had infiltrators who relayed even detailed information about their activities.
Xhemajli said he had information about how the UDB had learned even unusual details about a person who, according to him, had hidden in a sack of beans.
“Of course. Look, I will tell just one detail: they knew, after they had taken me in, what this business was about. They knew that Ibrahim had stayed in a sack of beans — that is, when he wrote the report, he wrote it in the corridor, because it was quieter there, and he even wrote about the sack that had beans in it, they knew. In detail. It is well known that the UDB had control over that kind of work,” Xhemajli said.
Asked whether such details prove a deep penetration of the UDB into their networks, Xhemajli said there had been as many infiltrators as that service needed.
“Yes, of course there were; there were as many as they needed. And UDB people often told me: we have as many as we need. I am not saying that everyone becomes one of ours. With pressure and everything, some do not become one, but we have as many as we want, as many as we need, we will have — and I believe that is how it was,” he said.
Xhemajli added that the UDB network had been wide, but stressed that he would not name names without having evidence or documents.
“There certainly could have been, as I say, the UDB network was wide. But I believe there were more. One can imagine it, but that is not right, as long as I have no document that a given person was one,” he said.
