Yemen’s army carries out 13 airstrikes against Houthi positions in Taiz province

Yemen’s armed forces have carried out 13 airstrikes against the Iran-backed Houthi group in Taiz province, announced Colonel Majid al-Nuzaili, spokesman for the army fighting for the internationally recognized, Saudi-backed government.

According to his post on the X platform, cited by Al Jazeera, the strikes hit Houthi reinforcements and military vehicles in al-Ridha, al-Aqrud, Bani Bakar, al-Kadha, Jabal Numan, al-Ajarm and al-Marazim.

The news is accompanied by an image from the media center of Yemen’s Armed Forces, showing a structure being targeted; the Reuters agency, also cited by Al Jazeera, notes that the location and date of the footage could not be independently verified.

The strikes come at a moment of escalation in Yemen’s civil war, which has become increasingly intertwined with the wider U.S.–Iran war, as the Houthis have expanded their actions in the Red Sea and against Saudi Arabia.
