Zelensky: The main bridges have been targeted, one killed and six wounded
At least one person has been killed and six others wounded in Russia’s overnight attacks in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced.
According to Zelenskyy, a Russian drone again hit the Pivnichnyi Bridge in Kyiv, while the capital’s main bridges have been targeted for the fourth day in a row.
The attacks also hit a medical supplies warehouse in Sumy and a communications structure in Dnipro. The Ukrainian president said Russia launched 135 attack drones, more than 50 of them with jet engines, targeting populated areas and critical infrastructure in Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Sumy and Zaporizhzhia.
Zelenskyy warned that the attacks have caused power outages in several communities, while emergency teams are working in the affected areas.
According to him, in the last week alone Russia has used more than 1,900 attack drones, 1,700 aerial bombs and 25 missiles against Ukraine. Zelenskyy also said that over 800 of the drones had jet engines, and demanded that Russia be held accountable for the escalation of the attacks.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian president welcomed German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s visit to Kyiv. Zelenskyy said Ukraine and Germany are preparing new agreements to strengthen defence capacities, and stressed the importance of European cooperation in facing the Russian attacks.
