Dimitrievski in Gostivar: We will talk with Bulgaria, we will not back down on Macedonian identity
The ZNAM Movement – For Our Macedonia continued its public report before citizens in Gostivar today, under the motto ‘Two years of work. Two years of results. One love – Macedonia’, where the results of two years of participation in government were presented to those present, as the Macedonian news agency MIA reports.
ZNAM leader Maksim Dimitrievski told the people of Gostivar that there will be talks with Bulgaria, but with no concession on Macedonian identity. According to Press24, he stressed that dialogue with Sofia will not touch identity issues.
The meeting in Gostivar is part of the series of reporting meetings ZNAM is holding across the country after two years in executive power; the party says 42 of its officials at central level have submitted public reports on their work.
The statement comes at a moment when European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s proposal for a bilateral meeting with Bulgaria has opened a wide political debate in Skopje.
