Levica demands criminal responsibility for the pollution of the Treska near Kičevo: the river is confirmed in the fifth category
The Levica party has demanded criminal responsibility for the pollution of the Treska river near Kičevo, as Libertas reports. In the party’s statement, which the MIA agency carries in full, it is stressed that official documents of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University in Skopje have been made public, confirming unequivocally that the water of the Treska in this segment is in the fifth category, that is, heavily polluted water.
This comes after the mass death of fish (trout) in the bed of the Treska between the villages of Vraneštica and Bigor Dolenci, a case that was reported to the police and notified to the public prosecutor and the Ministry of Environment.
According to Levica, state institutions must urgently clarify who polluted the river and those responsible must be brought to criminal justice, rather than everything remaining at the level of administrative findings.
The party stresses that the official documents of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine attest to the alarming degree of pollution and demands that the investigation end with concrete criminal prosecution of those who caused this ecological catastrophe.
