11th night of the “Not in My Name” protest; Haziri: What we expect now is action
The 11th night of the “Not in My Name” protest in Skanderbeg Square in Pristina was marked by a strong speech from organizer Çlirim Haziri, who called on Kosovo’s institutions to act in defense of the former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders being tried by the Specialist Court in The Hague, KosovaPress reports.
“Tonight is the 11th day! 11 days and 11 nights that this square has spoken. 11 days that our demands have been heard,” Haziri told protesters, stressing that after all these days and nights of standing firm, what is expected now is concrete action: “But after 11 days, what we expect is action!”
Haziri demanded accountability from all institutional representatives, from MPs to the prime minister: “From the last MP to the prime minister: Today, in the institutions of a free Kosovo… the KLA needs the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo! It needs your action!”
He called on political parties not to compete with statements but to show their stance by voting in parliament: “Don’t compete with statements. Don’t compete over who loves the KLA more… You have the parliament! You have the vote! Vote the law! Show your stance there!”
At the start of his speech, Haziri recalled the massacre of the Deliu family in Abri e Epërme on September 26, 1998, when Serb forces killed 22 members of the family, linking their sacrifice to the fight for freedom.
