Life after divorce, Gisele Bündchen tells the truth about Tom Brady

Gisele Bündchen bears no grudge against her former husband, Tom Brady, despite their high-profile divorce and the new details that have emerged about their marriage.

After the publication of Lars Anderson’s new book, Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness, a source close to the supermodel told PEOPLE that Bündchen is happy with the life she has built today.

“She always thought she would be married to Tom for the rest of her life. The divorce was very painful and at the time she found it hard to understand, but she is not bitter,” the source said.

According to the source, the model is grateful for the children she has with Brady and for the years they spent together.

“She is very spiritual and, looking back, she thinks the universe had another plan for her,” the source added.

Brady and Bündchen, who ended their marriage in 2022 after 13 years, are parents of two children, Benjamin, 16, and Vivian, 13.

Meanwhile, the model’s life has taken another direction. In December 2025, Bündchen married jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente. The couple also have a son, who was born in February 2025.

“She feels blessed to be a mother again. She loves the life she has with Joaquim and their family in Miami,” the source said.

The new book about Tom Brady also brings previously unknown details about the period before the divorce. According to the author, during the summer of 2022, Brady requested an extended leave from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ training camp, hoping to repair his marriage with Bündchen privately in the Bahamas.

The book also describes the impact the split had on the athlete. Brady lost about 9 kilograms during that period, while former Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians said the emotional stress was also affecting his physical condition.

The divorce was finalized on October 28, 2022.

In 2023, Bündchen had spoken openly about the split in an interview for Vanity Fair, denying claims that she had asked Brady to choose between his family and his career.

“What has been said is only one part of a much bigger puzzle. It is not black and white,” the model said.

At the time, she also made clear that she continued to wish the best for her former husband.

“I have always cheered for Tom and I will continue to do so forever. If there is one person I want to be the happiest in the world, it is him,” Bündchen declared.
