An attack was recorded on Friday morning at a school in Rome. A 13-year-old pupil attacked his teacher, first spraying pepper spray in her face and then wounding her with a knife.
According to initial information, the minor tried to film the attack on his cellphone and go live on Telegram, but one of his classmates managed to stop him.
The cellphone was confiscated by police in order to examine it and determine exactly what happened and whether the attack was recorded or broadcast.
The student was taken to the police station accompanied by his parents, while investigations into the exact circumstances of the incident are ongoing.
After the incident, Italy’s Minister of Education, Giuseppe Valditara, contacted the school’s principal, Wanda Giacomini, expressing his condolences to the wounded teacher and the school community.
According to information transmitted by the ANSA agency, the 13-year-old had caused no trouble until today and is described as a quiet pupil. The possible influence of social media and online content is one of the issues being examined, but it is still unclear what led to the attack.
