27-Year-Old Left Unable to Work After Workplace Accident; Prizren Court Issues No Ruling in Four Years
A 27-year-old man from Prizren has been left unable to work after an accident at his workplace. Bledar Shijaku suffered severe injuries that restrict movement on one side of his body, and over time he also developed epilepsy, as Klan Kosova reports.
Although his lawyer, Mehdi Geci, submitted medical documents to the court proving the loss of his ability to work, the Basic Court in Prizren has not issued any decision on the case in four years. According to the lawyer, the delay has occurred without any valid reason, which he described as a violation of fundamental human rights.
The lawsuit filed in the court’s civil division also went nowhere. According to Geci, the court suspended hearings at the request of the opposing party. The 27-year-old’s defense says it is now waiting for the court to appoint the experts who will assess his health condition.
In a written response to the KIKS program, the Basic Court in Prizren said it had handled the case over the years but was facing a large caseload and that this case was not among its priorities.
