After meeting Trump, Zelensky ready to meet Putin: “At any time”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was ready at any time to meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin in a trilateral meeting with the United States to end the war in Ukraine.

“I am ready at any time,” Zelensky said at a press conference on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday.

Trump could organize a trilateral meeting, where all the sensitive issues the leaders might raise could be discussed in an effort to end the war.

“I think we all need to move as quickly as possible,” he added.

In a post on X, he described his meeting with US President Donald Trump as “positive and productive”. Zelensky said the two leaders discussed “possible de-escalation steps that could pave the way for diplomacy”.

They also discussed a possible “energy ceasefire” with Russia, in which neither side would target the other’s energy infrastructure.

“Any negotiation by the Russian side will send a signal that they are ready to act,” the Ukrainian leader said.

Zelensky said he had not received a “specific answer” from Trump on whether the US would supply Ukraine with additional interceptor missiles, but added that the sentiment was “positive” and that his team would “work on it”.

Zelensky also said Ukraine needs licenses to produce Patriot missile systems and that he asked Trump to help advance the matter.
