Air Serbia launches direct Belgrade–Seville route: flights twice a week
Serbia’s national carrier Air Serbia today put into service the direct Belgrade–Seville air route, with the first flight carried out today, September 30, as NS Uživo reports according to the Tanjug agency. Seville, the cultural and administrative centre of Andalusia in southern Spain, is thus connected directly with the Serbian capital for the first time.
Flights between Belgrade and Seville will be operated twice a week, according to the company’s announcement, which Danas also reports. After the launch in September of the Tenerife route, Seville becomes the eighth Spanish destination reachable directly from Belgrade — after Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia, Alicante, Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife.
“With the new route we continue to develop our presence in the Spanish market and offer travellers more travel options throughout the year,” said Air Serbia’s general director, Jiří Marek. According to him, after the island of Tenerife, Belgrade is now also connected directly with Andalusia, one of Spain’s most visited and best-known cultural regions; Seville, he added, is attractive both for short city breaks and as a starting point for discovering the south of the country.
Seville is known for its rich historical and cultural heritage: the cathedral with the famous Giralda tower, the Royal Alcázar palace and the General Archive of the Indies — all three on the UNESCO list — the imposing Plaza de España square, the picturesque Triana quarter, the traditional tapas bars and the strong flamenco tradition, which make the city attractive all year round.
The new route is expected to serve both Serbian travellers who want to discover the south of Spain and Spanish tourists looking for new connections with the Balkans, while Air Serbia continues expanding its network in the Spanish market.
