Albania–Belarus match tonight: police announce security measures from 5 p.m. — here are the 9 blocked streets
The State Police has announced a plan of measures to guarantee public order and security before, during and after the football match between the national teams of Albania and Belarus, which will be played this evening at 8:45 p.m. at the “Air Albania” stadium.
The plan sets out the duties to be carried out by all structures, building on the positive experience of planning, organizing and managing public order and security during international events.
“For the smooth running of this activity, and to ease the movement of vehicles in the city of Tirana, on 26.09.2026, from 5:00 p.m. until the end of the match, the State Police, in cooperation with the Tirana Municipal Police, will apply traffic restrictions on several road axes near the stadium,” the police announced.
The streets to be blocked from 5:00 p.m. until the end of the match:
- “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard, from the “Laguna” fast-food outlet near the former Dajti Hotel bridge;
- “Papa Gjon Pali II” Street, at the RTSH intersection;
- “Dervish Hima” Street, near the U.S. Embassy;
- “Asim Zeneli” Street, near the U.S. Embassy;
- “Themistokli Gërmenji” Street, at the entrance;
- “Ismail Qemali” Street, at the RTSH intersection;
- “Lekë Dukagjini” Street, near the former Republican Guard (entry corridor to the designated parking lot, only for vehicles authorized by the Albanian Football Federation);
- “Abdyl Frashëri” Street, near the University Book intersection;
- At “Willson” Square, traffic will be diverted toward “Sami Frashëri” Street shortly before the end of the match.
Rruga e Elbasanit, the Ring Road and “Bajram Curri” Boulevard will remain open to traffic.
“Under the plan of measures, State Police officers will carry out thorough checks of fans before they enter the stadium, in order to prevent banners with racist content, fireworks, flares, pyrotechnic materials, metal coins, umbrellas, lighters, phone chargers, cosmetic products and other hard objects dangerous to the life and health of participants from being brought into the stadium,” the police said.
Fans are asked to show up at the stadium entrances starting at 6:30 p.m., as, due to the influx of fans, they may lose the chance to enter the stadium shortly before kickoff.
For the smooth running of this sports activity, the State Police has engaged hundreds of police officers, who will guarantee public order and security and will offer help and information if needed, so that the event concludes without incident, in the interest of the country’s image.
