Zhegrova: I stayed at Juventus because I love it, I want to do great things in Turin

Edon Zhegrova has spoken about his appearance for Kosovo, his goals with the national team and his future at Juventus, stressing that he wants to leave his mark with the Italian club.

The winger played only about 15 minutes in Kosovo’s 0-0 draw with Israel in the Nations League. Zhegrova admitted that starting on the bench was the coach’s decision, and said he hoped for more minutes in the next match.

“Starting from the bench was the coach’s decision. I can’t wait for the next match, I hope to start and to play,” Zhegrova said.

Kosovo next face Austria, who lead the group. Zhegrova is optimistic ahead of the challenge.

“I believe in my national team. We have quality players, we will play at home and I think we have a good chance to win. The same goes for the group. We will do everything to finish first,” he said.

In an interview with Sportmediaset, Zhegrova also spoke about his experience at Juventus, underlining how happy he is to be part of the Turin club.

“I am very happy to be at Juve. It is a great club and I cannot but be happy with my teammates, the coach, the staff and the whole team. It is a privilege for me to be part of this club and I will give my best every time I am chosen to play for Juve,” the Kosovo footballer declared.

During the summer transfer window, Zhegrova was rumoured to be leaving Juventus, but in the end he decided to stay in Turin.

“I stayed because I love this club and I want to achieve something great with it. When they bought me, I was really happy and I did not want to leave Juventus in that way. I wanted to stay and now I want to do great things for this club,” he said.

For now, Zhegrova is not part of Juventus’s Europa League list, a decision he attributes to coach Luciano Spalletti.

“It is Spalletti’s choice. Whatever is decided, I will do my best for the club and I respect every decision,” Zhegrova said.

Asked whether Juventus can win the Italian title, the Kosovo forward was optimistic.

“We have a great team, we have a great squad. We will take it match by match, but with the aim of winning every match we play. I think we have the quality, and in the end we will draw the conclusions,” he declared.

Finally, Zhegrova also spoke about the rivalry with Inter, the reigning champions of Italy.

Asked whether Juventus are stronger than Inter, he answered with a smile: “I don’t want to talk about this, but Juventus is always better.”
