Albania ratifies Convention for Ukraine; 65,000 compensation claims filed with the Register of Damage

With the ratification of the Convention establishing the International Claims Commission for Ukraine, Albania becomes the tenth state to approve this mechanism.

Justice Minister Toni Gogu announced that around 65,000 claims have been filed with the Register of Damage, which the Commission will review and for which it will set compensation.

“A damage that is only recorded remains a memory. A damage that is assessed and compensated becomes justice,” Gogu said.

The Convention aims at assessing damages, the Register of Damage and the Compensation Fund. So far, the convention has been signed by 40 states and the European Union, and to enter officially into force at the global level, ratification by 25 states is needed.
