All of Kosovo protests for the former KLA leaders: Rallies in Peja and Istog conclude
All of Kosovo rose today in support of the former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders, sentenced to a total of 81 years in prison by the Specialist Chambers on 16 September 2026, as Klan Kosova reports. The protests, called by the KLA War Veterans’ Organization in 14 municipalities across the country, demand justice and the correction of the first-instance verdict on appeal.
The rallies in Peja and Istog have already concluded. In Peja’s “Shkëlzen Haradinaj” square, residents gathered in large numbers, while one protester called the Specialist Chambers’ decision “a political court”.
In the other municipalities the protests continue with massive turnout. Skenderaj filled with citizens, where a woman from Drenica burst into tears and sent a message to the four: “You are not alone… long live Kosovo, long live freedom, glory to the nation’s martyrs and fallen”. In Lipjan, Shukri Buja joined the citizens, while in Podujevë Bulliqi declared: “Once they fought for our freedom, today we stand together for theirs”. In Ferizaj, Aliu called the decision “incomprehensible and selective”, while rallies were also held in Mitrovica and Deçan, where people marched for the former fighters.
The protesters’ shared message is clear: justice for the former KLA leaders and correction of the verdict on appeal. The organization’s branch in the capital joined the protest from 21:00 in Prishtina’s “Skënderbeu” square.
