The Athens bourse closed Friday’s session with marked gains, turning the whole week into positive territory, as eKathimerini reports. The recovery was led mainly by the banking sector, which drew investor interest on a day marked by strong movements in the markets. The general index closed up 0.90%, reaching 2,665.93 points. On a weekly basis, the market advanced 0.17%, erasing the losses of previous days and closing the five-day period with a positive balance.
The gains came in a context of volatility in global money markets, which pushed investors to seek opportunities in European bourses, including Athens. Banks were the absolute protagonists of the session, reflecting market confidence in the resilience of the Greek financial sector and in the outlook of the country’s economy. Analysts estimate the positive run could continue in the coming days, if international markets manage to stabilize and risk appetite holds among investors.
