Audit Office: the ‘Moj Termin’ system runs ‘on the operator’s word of honour’ — 738 days without maintenance, no patient lists, ‘8 September’ does not register operations
The State Audit Office has found serious weaknesses in the functioning of the national electronic health system ‘Moj Termin’, as Nezavisen reports. According to the auditors’ findings, the system in fact functions ‘on the operator’s word of honour’ — without regular maintenance and without guarantees for the security of patients’ data.
The system’s maintenance has not been carried out for 738 days, which amounts to 37.9% of the 2021–2026 period, according to the findings of the State Audit Office. Meanwhile, the name ‘Moj Termin’ itself was registered as a trademark only in 2024 — by the private operator that maintains the system.
During the audit it was also discovered that in some public health institutions there are no lists at all of patients scheduled with an appointment. Even more seriously, the ‘8 September’ City General Hospital in Skopje does not register surgical interventions in the system, which makes the transparency of waiting lists unrealistic.
The audit also found serious weaknesses in IT security and in the protection of personal data, as Nezavisen reports — shortcomings that directly strike citizens’ trust in digital healthcare.
